Breeders Classic and Stallion Service Sale

Quality bloodlines and friendly competition. That’s what the Foundation Quarter Horse Registry is all about. To perpetuate the breeding of American Quarter Horses who carry foundation bloodlines, and give breeders a venue to exhibit and be rewarded for their efforts, the Breeders Classic and Stallion Service Sale were created.

A Vital Part of Our Organization

This two-part program offers exciting opportunities to promote foundation-bred stallions through the Stallion Service Sale and then promote and qualify their offspring for entry into the Breeders Classic Futurity.

Breeders Classic: To qualify for the Breeder’s Classic, your foal must be:

  • Sired by a stallion that was donated to the Stallion Service Sale (Option 1)
  • Sired by a Stallion Service Sale-participating stallion and nominated for a fee (see Option 2)
  • Michigan members bred, owned, and eligible for FQHR
  • Born in Michigan
  • Registered by their yearling year
  • Entered the Breeder’s Classic by their two-year-old year.

Two ways to participate:

Option 1 – Stallion Service sale

A stallion owner donates a breeding. A mare owner can purchase the donated breeding at 50% off (deadline applicable) and the resulting foal is automatically qualified to enter the four-year futurity known as the Breeders Classic.

Option 2 – Stallion Nomination

The stallion owner can pay an annual nomination fee and any of the stallion’s get, that are foundation registered can be entered into the Breeders Classic Futurity that year. The annual stallion fee must be paid for every year’s foal crop. Usually, the stallion owner pays the nomination fee, but anyone can pay it.

Breeders Classic Entry Form

The Breeders Classic Futurity is for weanlings, yearlings, two-year-olds, and three-year-olds. The points from each year carry over and the three-year-old with the highest total accumulation of points wins a Bob’s Custom Saddle.

Whether you’re a stallion owner, mare owner, or looking to purchase a foal, the Breeders Classic gives breeders a venue to exhibit and be rewarded for their efforts in perpetuating foundation-bred horses.
